Approximate site of accident

A mid-morning collision in downtown Greensboro between a dump truck and a Jeep Cherokee sent two occupants of the Jeep and the driver of the dump truck to the emergency department. The collision occurred about 10:00 am at the intersection of West Friendly Avenue and North Edgeworth Street. At 12:30 pm, Friendly Avenue remained closed as the police Traffic Reconstruction Unit processed the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The names of those in the Jeep have not been released. The News & Record is reporting that the dump truck belongs to Lenoir-based KRG Utility. According to the KRG Utility website, for several years the Greensboro Water Resources Department has contracted with KRG to replace deteriorated sewer lines. We do not know if the dump truck was involved in work for the city at the time of the collision.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were injured.
