Two drivers were transported to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina after a collision that occurred around 7:30 on the morning of July 8, 2010 in Rockingham County.

Emir Chavez, 24, was travelling north on Business 29 when he fell asleep and crossed into the southbound lane of the highway. He hit a dump truck driven by Edith Cummings.

As of now, Chavez remains hospitalized in “critical but stable condition,” according to an article from digtriad.com. The victim, Edith Cummings, sustained minor injuries. I’m happy to hear that he should be released from the hospital today.

Chavez has been charged with Careless and Reckless Driving and Driving with a Revoked License, according to Trooper JM Thomas.
