Leah Bianco, 16, crashed her parents’ Ford Focus Friday morning, April 2, 2010 on Highway 22 in Randolph County, North Carolina.

Bianco and her passenger, Laura Allen, 15, were on the way to Providence Grove High School when the young driver overcorrected her steering and lost control of the vehicle, investigators said. The car flipped and hit a tree, trapping both girls inside.

Bianco was airlifted to Duke Medical Center in Durham while Allen was taken to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, according to an article on digtriad.com. Though their injuries are serious, the young women are expected to recover. The teenagers were wearing their seatbelts during the automobile accident, which might have saved their lives.
