Teenage drivers take risks that often have terrible consequences. Students in North Carolina are now mourning the loss of their friend and concerned about another following a wreck in Davidson County. The teenage driver was speeding and out after dark the night she lost her life.
Chelsea Nicole Lamb, 17, of Thomasville, was driving a red Jeep around 9:48 p.m. on March 22, 2011 when she lost control of the SUV at the intersection of Conrad Hill Mine Road and Robert Beck Road in Davidson County near Lexington, NC.
Both Chelsea and her passenger, April Brooke English, 16, of Lexington, were ejected from the vehicle. Neither of the girls was wearing seatbelts.
Chelsea was a junior at Ledford High School. She lost control of her Jeep as it rounded a curve travelling an estimated 70 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. The car overturned several times before coming to rest across the street.
April Edwards is in 10th grade at Central Davidson High. She is listed in good condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but has suffered serious, potentially debilitating injuries as a result of the tragic accident. Hopefully, she will soon begin a successful recovery.
