A Geo Metro travelling on Highway 65 in Rockingham County, NC around noon on Friday, April 1, 2011 failed to yield the right of way to a Mercury Mountaineer. The driver and passenger in the Metro were killed instantly and the SUV flipped onto its side, according to Trooper John Thomas.

Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department

The driver of the SUV was transported to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro with serious injuries, be he was reportedly conscious and alert. The names of the victims have not yet been released, nor has the official accident report.
