An SUV following too close to Don Fumo’s motorcycle killed the beloved 51-year-old math teacher from East Mecklenberg High School in Union County, North Carolina on June 6, 2010.

Four other vehicles were involved in the collision that occurred on Lawyers Road at Gold Dust Drive. Three others were injured but released from area hospitals according to an article on wcnc.com.

Pile-ups like these are unfortunate and always avoidable if motorists would not follow too close to the vehicles ahead of them. When a motorcyclist is rear-ended, the consequences are frequently devastating if not fatal.
