Recipients of the DePuy Pinnacle hip implant must wait a while longer before resolving their claims.

The DePuy Pinnacle hip device was never recalled, but was taken off the market in 2012. Thousands of lawsuits from across the nation have been consolidated in front of a federal judge in Texas. The first “bellwether,” or test trial, resulted in a verdict for DePuy. That trial involved an injured person who had a complicated medical history, and may not represent the majority of DePuy Pinnacle hip recipients.

The next DePuy Pinnacle bellwether trial has not yet been scheduled.

The DePuy Pinnacle hip implant is a metal-on-metal hip device, designed very similarly to the recalled DePuy ASR hip device. The design can result in wear of the metal ball and cup, causing metal ions to leach into the blood stream and surrounding tissue. Called metallosis, this type of metal poisoning can lead to serious health problems.

It seems the lawyers for the injured had their head somewhere else when picking the first to be represented. This woman had many issues why would you want to make your best case with her?

I agree with first comment. After reading them saying woman was going to have problems with seating implant. That made DePuys case. I had failure within a year. Stem was just hanging loose. Never adhered. No complications with surgery. Had another DePuy implant in left hip in 2003. Not metal on metal. No problems to date after 11 years. Attorneys are picking wrong cases. Frankly I am tired of waiting after they ruined my life with faulty implant. I lost my career as a letter carrier after 27 years. I had surgery in 2007 and revision in 2008. Long before half these people even had original implant. Johnson and Johnson knew clear back then. I now have to live in poverty praying that justice is done soon. Can't hang on much longer.

I am now my 36 year old son's caregiver because of DePuy hip implants. He's had "5" surgeries in 5 years. Because of the failures, pan, dislocations, and broken femur he is now totally disabled and in constant pain. This has changed many lives around him. He has lost the ability to work, earn a living, walk long distances, run, participate in activities with his children as he wants. . .he now wears a brace almost 24/7 for support of this leg! If only we had of known what a hip replacement meant! DePuy has no idea how many lives have changed because of these faulty products and the pain and suffering that has ensued. I suggested that my son be one in these bellwhether trials this time around, he had the Pinnacle first in 1999 and life has never been the same for our family. I totally agree and ask: How long should we be asked to hang on?? This has almost bankrupt me!!

In choosing that case it seems like they were swinging for a home run. There are 7200 other runs that could have scored with singles, doubles and triples.

They will get it right, but it takes patience to hold on for sure. I chose them because they were the "no more tears company". So much for that!
