Last week the Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc., and the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Class I recall of approximately 131,300 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with the dangerous bacteria E. coli O157:H7. A Class I recall indicates a high health risk, i.e., there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
Some of the recalled beef was shipped to distribution centers in North Carolina and South Carolina for retail sale. In North Carolina, the FDA has identified the following retailers as potentially receiving recalled meat products
