3 Feet Please Offers Reward for Michael R. Pellegrino's Unidentified Killer

Comments Off

Michael R. Pellegrino, 48, of Stokesdale, North Carolina was discovered dead on NC Highway 421 on the morning of September 26, 2010. Troopers are unsure of exactly how and when he was killed, but he appears to have been struck by a motor vehicle while he was riding a sports bike along the highway late Saturday night or early Sunday. Based on evidence found at the scene of the automobile accident, Trooper Greg Ingram and other authorities believe the vehicle that struck Pellegrino was a 1993-1997 Ford pickup truck, possibly a Ranger. Investigators don’t know the color of the truck, but suspect that damage was done to the vehicle’s right front side.

According to Pellegrino’s friend, Brian Marcum, in an article on myfox8.com, Pellegrino was an experienced cyclist en route to the North Carolina coast at the time of the fatal hit-and-run.

And now, a Florida-based company, 3 Feet Please, is offering a $500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of Pellegrino’s unidentified killer. The company’s founder, Joe Mizereck, says the company is offering the reward in order to raise awareness about bicyclists’ safety.

According to 3 Feet Please’s website, in Florida (and an additional 16 states) there exists a law that requires motorists to pass cyclists with at least 3 feet of room between them. No such law exists in North Carolina.
